THE PRESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer Roles

Spotting - On the assigned Hole that you are spotting, your goal is to inform the Player whether their disc is residing in or out of bounds. You will be the judge of this. You will be equipped with a Green and Red Flag, and some metal ground marking flags. Green Flag means Inbounds and Safe. Red Flag means out of bounds and Not Safe. If you are unsure of whether or not the disc is in bounds, cross both flags in the air above your head. The players will know what to do from there, likely throwing a provisional throw and will retrieve/look at the lie of the disc following. If you see where a disc goes out of bounds, mark it with a metal flag. I will show you where to stand on each hole when you check in for the day. Bring a stool, something to keep the sun off of you, and PLENTY of water.

PDGA LIVE Scorekeeping - Make sure your Phone is FULLY CHARGED! Kyle Phillips is our Lead PDGA LIVE Scorekeeper. Big Hoss is our Director of Scoring. Once you check in for your shift, you will then check in with Kyle Phillips at HOLE #1. Kyle will be ready to instruct you and show you how to take score on PDGA LIVE, and send you out with your card. Very important for everyone who is Scorekeeping to be at least 45 minutes early to their shift. If you have the first card for the day, please be here 30 minutes early. We will then put you into the Queue for Scorekeeping and Kyle will assign you to your Card for the day. Once Complete you will then hand in your scores to Big Hoss who will be located off the Green of Hole #18 in the Scorekeeping Tent.

Crowd Control - You will be the dividing force between the players, media, Scorekeepers, and Bushnell. Equipped with quiet signs, keep at least a distance of 20 feet from the Scoreboard Director. Watch the Lead or DGPT person as they will guide you and the line. Make sure spectators don't cross roped off areas and guide them through the necessary paths. Again, you will be directed as to which was to guide everyone. USE the Quiet signs when a player approaches their disc. Once the player has completed their throw, you may lower the quiet sign. Every Lead Card will have Jim and Michelle Herrick as your Crowd Control Captains, they are the rule, follow their lead as they know exactly what they are supposed to do (5 year Volunteers!). Please be ready 45 minutes prior to your scheduled card.

Parking -  The MFA has graciously agreed to cover the Parking this year. If you are interested in covering the Parking Lot, please let me know and we will help you get in touch with the MFA.

Flex - Flex is required to be onsite all day, or they are placed into the flex role following or prior to a shift. This has been discussed with people who are willing to extend their time if help is needed. When we do have a need they will jump in and fill that role immediately. This is an On-Call Role. Be ready for anything at any moment.

Pavilion - We will have a Food Provider and Blacklist Brewery manning the Pavilion this year. We are in need of a small handful of people to help support these efforts.

Hutchville Camping

We have been hard at working making sure your camping experience is top notch and over the years there have been a few amenities that were greatly desired, but hard to work into the budget. We have added a small cost for camping to cover these items, please see below.

Camping costs are dictated by how many days you are Volunteering. The more you Volunteer the less it will cost.

3-day Volunteer $25
2-day Volunteer $45
1-day Volunteer $65

To sign up for camping - Click on this link and complete the registration and payment process. https://mnpreserve.com/products/volunteers-camping-amenities-for-the-preserve-championship?_pos=1&_sid=981860ab1&_ss=r

All Camping Volunteers - We have brought in Bathroom and Shower Trailers with A/C for your use!

We now have zones for Camping and for Parking. Last year the ground was saturated, which made parking and driving a challenge on the property. In an effort to reduce damage to the property we are limiting where everyone camps and parks their vehicles.

We will include a Detailed Map in the next email. Questions? Your gracious hosts will help guide you when you arrive to camp. Camp Host - Eric F. Hutchison (847) 997-0432, Co-Host Mark Wells (612) 810-4329

Hutchville Entertainment will consist of 7 different music groups and artists Friday through Sunday.

Jackalope Putting Course - Daily Competition with KP Leagues. Details in the next email.

Upgraded 40x40 Tent with walls, to be used if we have bad weather.

Thank you for your understanding and the cost for camping. Your support is more than appreciated!! We hope you make good use of the additional upgrades.

Next email to be released on May 4th. Looking forward to speaking with each of you on April 6th. If I miss you on the first round, you will be called again at a later time. First come first serve for shifts.
